Captain Ian Austin

Biography
Ian’s passion started to be realised aged 11 when he got his first flying balsa glider.
During his school years he was engrossed in all things aviation including gliding.
He started his PPL in 1990 whilst studying aircraft engineering in Bristol and later the ATPLs in 1996.
Ian’s commercial work includes flying corporate jets, turboprops and running Jet Exchange.
He is an active instructor and examiner and covers most aspects of PPL, SEP, MEP, PC12 and IR.
Ian particularly enjoys teaching / checking on high performance and unusual aircraft and displays at the ‘BBC Children in Need’
show at Little Grandson every year.
Qualifications
– CAA and FAA ATPL
– CAA: CRE, MEP, SEP, PC12, IRR (Class Rating Examiner with Instrument Rating Revalidation privileges)
– CAA: Unrestricted Flight Instructor
– Ratings: Falcon 50/900, Phenom 300, Citation 525, PC12, SEP, MEP
– CAA Licensed Engineer
– Display Authorisation: PC12, Citation 525, Jet Provost, Formation lead and member, “B” Aerobatics.
