Captain Arwyn Jones

Biography

Arwyn was brought up in North Wales and is a native Welsh speaker.

He  joined the Air Training Corps at the age of 13 and at the age of 16 he gained his Gliding Wings and when he was 17 he was awrded a Flying Scholarship and gained his Private Pilot Licence.

After leaving school he joined the Royal Air Force as an Aircraft Technician, specialising in Propulsion-Gas Turbines.

He followed his ambition to be a professional pilot and gained an Instructor Rating followed by a Commercial Pilots License and Instrument Rating. After leaving the RAF he fulfilled his ambition of becoming a professional pilot flying the Britten Norman Trislander, Beechcraft King Air and Embraer Bandeirante.

He Joined Britannia Airways flying the B737-200 and very quickly joined British Airways flying the B737, B747-200, B747-400, Airbus 319/320 and his current aircraft the Airbus A380.

Arwyn throughout his airline career has maintained a very active interest in General Aviation as both an Instructor and Examiner. He currently teaches and examines on Single Engine, Multi Engine Piston, Beech King Air, Daher TBM and Piper Meridian aircraft. He also authorised to conduct Initial Instrument Rating Skills Test on all Single Pilot Aircraft.

He as flown in excess of 30,000 hours
