Having recently acquired a glass cockpit C182 with only few hours G1000 experience, my wife and I were faced with the urgent task of getting up to speed with the avionics so that we could enjoy the plane’s full potential.
CAMFLIGHT’s desktop simulator has proved to be an excellent solution for us and even after a few sessions we quickly became familiar with the most important systems. Working in an environment free of the additional cockpit workload and expense of flight allowed us to concentrate on the G1000 and was not only less stressful but also a more efficient learning experience.
We found the most effective way to use the simulator was to work through the flight plan using the waypoint, VNAV and instrument approach functions and then to reinforce this by flying the course as planned on the following day. My wife (non-PPL) has quickly become confident with the systems and now takes care of flight planning as well as being able to check other G1000 functions.

Initially, Arwyn provided the G1000 ground school on the G1000 desktop trainer, which is a superb piece of equipment, followed by the practical Glass Technology flying.
Arwyn’s teaching approach is both calm and patient and his extensive knowledge both on the ground school and the practical flying aspect, I found to be excellent.
